Circus Skills Workshops for Schools
Wobbly Circus would like to bring the energy of the circus to your school!
We are inviting your students to take part in our circus workshops. Our schools workshops can be tailor made to suit the needs and abilities of your group. They can be a one off taster or they can form part of a more in depth project over time, exploring a certain theme or culminating in a performance.
Why Circus Skills?
Circus skills are a unique and fun way of engaging people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities in arts, cultural and physical activities. Circus skills stimulate both mind and body, and improve learning and concentration as well as fitness levels. They help to develop invaluable life skills such as teamwork, discipline and communication. They channel children’s enormous energy in positive and creative ways, increasing motivation and self esteem.
Learning circus skills is an excellent, fun, class activity offering many links to National Curriculum in areas such as physical education, performing arts, science, art and music.
Our Secondary Schools Circus in Schools project started in November 2015. The programme is funded by Waterford City & Council Arts Office and is part of the Secondary Schools Arts Programme. We are currently working with transition year students in three schools in County Waterford. We can also provide one off workshops for all years of Secondary School and Primary School students.
Students will be introduced to the following circus skills:
Juggling & object manipulation (including diabolo, devilstick, plate spinning, poi and staff spinning)
Tight rope walking
Choreography & performance techniques
Please contact us to receive our full brochure about our Circus Workshops for Schools that will give you a breakdown of what we can do for your class. We have full public liability and employer’s liability insurance and we operate a child protection policy under the national guidelines. Garda clearance can also be arranged.
